Follow Up On the Gift.

I would just like to say, that my ability to sit down and type out a post is long gone. Summer is fully here, and dang it I am enjoying every inch of it that I can with the kiddos. Enjoying it so much that my house is getting desperately neglected! Yikes, so much laundry! We pretty much are outside first thing in the morning until night. The heat here has been so dang hot. I am so thankful Sam helped me get the pool cleaned out and hauled water to fill it. The kiddos and I live in that pool! I feel I have so much catching up to do.

Father’s Day, the kids and I went to church and Sam caught up on— well I shouldn’t say caught up because can you really ever be caught up on farm things this time of the year?! The answer is no. You cannot. Anyways, I had been planning on smoking a pork loin for him, along with homemade ice cream, and yummy dessert, and some sides to go with it. Well the loin was going to take 2.5- 3 hours to smoke, so I was trying to figure everything out to time it just right. Well…I should have looked at the instructions to the smoker prior to the day of smoking on it. I had to prime it, and then I had to smoke off the “New” before I could smoke anything off of it. That took me a good 50 minutes to do. I was stressing a bit and beginning to wonder why the heck he wanted one of these things 😉 We had some friends coming over as well for supper, so I was slightly freaking when it came to smoking something for supper for all of us. I did have a backup supper in the freezer and fridge though…hotdogs and hamburgers if this loin didn’t turn out. Well the temp of the loin was done, so I took it off the smoker and my goodness was it the best thing I have ever tasted! Sam thought it was delicious and said this is the best meal he has had in a long time! I am calling it a win for his gift! He even wanted me to make hamburgers on it the next day for supper!

I can’t wait to try some more recipes with it! I have a list started and I am ready to knock them out! This could be a bad thing!
